VESSELS, implements — the temple's gold and silver service, and one of the few physical objects whose whole story the Bible tells. Nebuchadnezzar carries them off to the treasure house of his god (Daniel 1:2; 2 Kings 25); Belshazzar drinks wine from them at his last feast and sees the writing on the wall (Daniel 5); and here Cyrus has them counted out of that same temple and sent home (Ezra 1:7-11).
