GLORY — and literally WEIGHT. Built on kaved, 'heavy' (the same root behind 'honor,' which is treating a person as weighty, and behind Pharaoh's HEAVY heart). Its first appearance in the whole Bible is almost domestic: 'in the morning you shall see the glory of Jehovah' (Exodus 16:7, already on these pages), a promise about the coming manna, answered a few verses later when the glory itself appears in the cloud (16:10) — no fire, no vision, just a presence made visible to answer a complaint about food. In Ezekiel the kavod becomes something far larger: not an abstraction but a character in the plot, seen first in that book by the Chebar canal in exile (1:28), watched LEAVING the temple in chapters 10-11, and watched returning in chapter 43. ⚠ Its most dramatic request comes earlier still: Moses asks to see it outright, and is shown only goodness, a name, and a retreating back — the kavod passing by too great to survive facing (Exodus 33:18–23, already on these pages). → first discussed at Exod 16:7
