kavod כָּבוֹד kavod

GLORY — and literally WEIGHT. Built on kaved, 'heavy' (the same root behind 'honor,' which is treating a person as weighty, and behind Pharaoh's HEAVY heart). God's glory is his weight, his sheer mattering. In Ezekiel the kavod is not an abstraction but a character in the plot: seen first in exile by the Chebar canal (1:28), watched LEAVING the temple in chapters 10-11, and watched returning in chapter 43. → first discussed at Ezekiel 1:28
