CLEAN — of things, of ritual purity, and of people. ⚠ In John it lands twice, ten verses apart, and the second answers the first: at the footwashing, 'you are clean — but not all of you' (13:10-11), which the narrator explains meant the one who would hand him over; then at 15:3, after Judas has left the room (13:30), 'ALREADY you are clean'.
