A GUEST ROOM, a lodging-place. ⚠ It occurs three times in the New Testament, and twice it is the UPPER ROOM of the Last Supper — 'where is my katalyma, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' (Luke 22:11; Mark 14:14). The third is Luke 2:7, where every older version prints 'inn'. ⚠ And Luke has a word for a commercial inn: pandocheion, which he uses eight chapters later of the place the Samaritan takes the beaten man (10:34). He knew the word and did not use it here. NIV now prints 'guest room'; KJV, ASV, DRB, RV ('mesón') and NVI ('posada') all still print inn. → first discussed at Luke 2:7
