kahah כָּהֲתָה kahatah

TO GROW DIM, FAINT — the verb behind Deuteronomy 34:7's ‘his eye had not grown dim’. Searched across the whole archived Hebrew Bible, this exact verb form stands in exactly two verses: this one, and Ezekiel 21:12 (not yet on these pages), where it is not an eye but ‘every spirit’ that grows faint at approaching news — the same rare verb applied once to failing eyesight and once, centuries later, to a whole nation's failing courage. → first discussed at Deut 34:7
