To MARK OUT a boundary, appoint, determine — the root of English 'horizon', the line that bounds what you can see. Romans 1:4 says Jesus was horisthentos 'Son of God in power' by the resurrection, and the verse has been argued over since the second century: read flatly it could suggest the resurrection MADE him what he was not, which is why KJV, ASV and NWT all render it 'declared' rather than 'appointed'.
