A HARLOT'S WAGE — the specific fee paid to a prostitute, a word the law singles out: 'you shall not bring the wage of a harlot (etnan) or the price of a dog into the house of Jehovah' (Deuteronomy 23:18), because it is 'an abomination.' ⚠ Micah 1:7 turns it double-edged on Samaria: the prophets routinely call idolatry 'whoring' after other gods, so the city's idols ARE a harlot's wages; and the gold that gilded them had been gathered from cult offerings and tribute — so 'from a harlot's wage she gathered them, and to a harlot's wage they will return' (the plundered idol-gold ends up back in the temples of Assyria, where such money circulates).
