emphanizō ἐμφανίζω emphanizō

To MAKE VISIBLE, show plainly — built on phainō, to shine or appear. It is what Jesus promises at John 14:21, 'I will show myself to him', and it is what prompts the only question in the chapter that gets a straight answer: Judas (not Iscariot) asks why the showing is for them and not for the world. The word is about being made evident to sight, not about explaining. → first discussed at John 14:21
