Truth, faithfulness, reliability — from aman, 'to be firm, trustworthy' (the root of amen). Its home is the pair chesed ve-EMET, 'kindness and truth' (24:27, 49): not two things but one — loyal love that can be RELIED ON, love that keeps faith. The servant blesses Jehovah for not forsaking his chesed ve-emet toward Abraham, and asks Laban's house to deal in chesed ve-emet with his master.
