'God Most High' — the title under which Melchizedek, a Canaanite priest-king, blesses Abram (14:18); Abram then identifies his own YHWH with this Most High God (14:22). Psalm 91 opens by stacking it with three more names in two verses — Elyon, Shaddai, YHVH, 'my God' — moving from the highest title to the most personal possessive in a breath. ⭐ As a plain adjective, HIGH, it is what Israel is set at Deuteronomy 26:19 (now on these pages), high above all the nations that he has made — the same word as the title, given to a people rather than to God, and repeated as the first blessing at 28:1 (now on these pages).
