'God' — plural in form, singular in verb: standard Biblical Hebrew for the one God. ⚠ The sharpest exception in the Torah comes at the golden calf: when the people demand 'elohim who will go before us,' the relative clause uses a genuinely PLURAL verb, yelchu, 'they WILL go' (Exodus 32:1, already on these pages) — the one moment the grammar itself seems to abandon the singular sense, at exactly the moment the theology is in question. → first discussed at Gen 1:1
