POWER — capacity, the ability to do a thing; the root of 'dynamic' and 'dynamo'. ⚠ Also of 'dynamite', but the explosive was named after the Greek word in 1867, not the other way round, so a sermon that calls the gospel 'the dynamite of God' is describing a nineteenth-century invention. In the Gospels dynameis in the plural are the 'mighty works', the miracles.
