GLORY — weight, splendour, the visible worth of a thing; the root of 'doxology'. In classical Greek it means opinion or reputation (hence 'orthodox', right opinion, and 'paradox', beside opinion), but the Greek Old Testament pressed it into service for the Hebrew kavod, 'weight' — the heaviness of God's presence that fills the tabernacle. Romans 1:23 turns on it: they 'exchanged the GLORY of the incorruptible God for a likeness of an image' — a trade, and the psalm being quoted (106:20) had said the same thing about Israel and the golden calf. → first discussed at Rom 1:23
