A WAY, road, path — and, by extension, the manner and course of a whole life. It is the master-image of Hebrew wisdom: there are TWO WAYS, the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked, and everything hangs on which one a person walks. Psalm 1 is built on the contrast and ends on it — 'Jehovah knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish' — and the same two-ways picture runs through Proverbs and closes the Sermon on the Mount (the narrow road and the broad).
