behemah בְּהֵמָה behemah

A BEAST — large land animals collectively, and especially domestic livestock, as against wild animals (chayyah) or creeping things. ⚠ Ecclesiastes 3:18 says God shows people she-hem behemah hemah, 'that they ARE beasts, they themselves', with an emphatic repeated pronoun and no comparison particle. KJV and NWT keep it flat; ASV inserts 'but AS beasts', and RV ('semejantes a') and TNM ('como') both add the comparison too. → first discussed at Ecclesiastes 3:18
