'Create' — a verb reserved for God alone in the Bible; marks the thresholds: cosmos (1:1), animal life (1:21), humanity (1:27). ⚠ Psalm 51:12 (English 51:10) is where that restriction does its sharpest work: 'a clean heart — CREATE one for me, God'. Because no human being ever baras anything, and because bara is not the ordinary word for making or shaping (asah, yatsar), the request is not to be improved but for the act of Genesis 1:1 performed on a heart. The whole shelf keeps the verb — KJV 'Create in me a clean heart', RV 'Crea en mi', NWT 'Create in me even a pure heart' — and its force depends entirely on knowing how restricted the word is. ⚠ Numbers 16:30 (already on these pages) is the other place the restriction is doing argumentative work: Moses stakes his commission on whether Jehovah will b'riah yivra, 'create a creation' — a cognate accusative pairing the noun with the verb — and only two versions checked here keep the doubling (NWT 1984, TNM 1987); the rest read 'make a new thing'. → first discussed at Gen 1:21
