A CRAVING — appetite in its strong sense, always in construct with nefesh, the soul or throat, so that the idiom is the craving of the soul. ⭐ Deuteronomy uses it four times and three of them are about meat: 12:15, 12:20 and 12:21 permit slaughtering and eating as much as your soul desires, which is a quantity. Deuteronomy 18:6 is the fourth and it is an intensity: the country Levite comes to the chosen place with all the craving of his soul. ⚠ Its wildest use is Jeremiah 2:24, where a wild donkey in heat sniffs the wind in her craving — the same two words, of an animal nobody can turn back.
