aqad עָקַד aqad

To bind — the verb of Genesis 22:9, 'he BOUND Isaac his son,' and it occurs ONLY this once in all of scripture. Yet from this one word Jewish tradition names the whole episode the Aqedah, 'the Binding' — memory resting on the binding, not the near-killing. KJV 'bound.' → first discussed at Gen 22:9
