Ziklag approximate

The town in the Negev given to David by ACHISH the Philistine king of Gath during his exile, and held by David's family afterward (1 Samuel 27:6). It is where he is living when Saul dies — a man anointed king of Israel, quartered in enemy territory on an enemy's grant. ⚠️ Days earlier the Amalekites had burned it and carried off the wives and children of David's men, who spoke of stoning him; he pursued and recovered everything (1 Samuel 30), which is the raid he has just returned from as 2 Samuel opens. Its site is disputed — Tell esh-Shari'a and Tel Sera' are among the candidates — so the map marks it approximately.

in the text 2 Samuel 1:1
