🗺️ Atlas

The fifth of the ‘cities of the plain’, paired with Admah in every list it appears in — among Chedorlaomer’s opponents (Genesis 14:2, already on these pages), among the cities overthrown at Deuteronomy 29:22, and in Hosea’s plea (11:8, not yet on these pages). Genesis 19’s own account of the destruction never names it directly. ⚠ A different place spelled the same way in English, the VALLEY of Zeboim near Michmash (1 Samuel 13:18, not yet on these pages), is unrelated — a different Hebrew word (tzevoim, from a root for hyena, spelled with an ayin rather than a yod) naming a ravine in Benjamin, decades and a war apart from this city. No site is settled on here as this city’s location; it is not plotted on the atlas.

in the text Gen 14:2 Deut 29:22
📍 No fixed point plotted — the location is genuinely undetermined (see the note above), so this shows no guessed pin.
🗺️ No ancient-world overlay on the shelf yet for this site — a period map showing how the region actually looked in the biblical world gets added here as Mr. Librarian curates one, the same way the encyclopedia's film shelf grows.
▶ No films on the shelf yet — archaeology and geography videos get added here as Mr. Librarian finds good ones.
