A covered colonnade along the eastern wall of the Jerusalem temple, where the crowd gathers after the healing at the Beautiful Gate (Acts 3:11) and where the earliest church later assembles openly (Acts 5:12). ⚠ Jewish tradition traced the portico back to Solomon's original temple, though the structure standing in the first century was Herod's, built roughly a thousand years later on what was believed to be the same footprint — one of the few parts of the temple complex Herod's rebuilding is said to have left largely alone. It is also where Jesus himself walks and is questioned during the winter Feast of Dedication (John 10:22-23), the only other New Testament scene set there.
