The ridge above the Moabite plateau overlooking the wasteland, reached at the end of the itinerary in Numbers 21:20. ⚠ Hebrew nearly always says ha-Pisgah, THE Pisgah, which suggests it is a description — a cleft, or a headland — rather than a proper name; it is associated with, and probably part of, the Mount Nebo massif. It becomes one of the most important vantage points in the Torah: Balaam is taken to its top to look at Israel (Numbers 23:14), and Moses is shown the whole land from it before he dies (Deuteronomy 34:1).
