The north-eastern corner post of Canaan (Numbers 34:9-10), where the northern border stops and the eastern one starts. ⭐ The name is chatzar einan, ‘the enclosure of springs’ — and ayin, a spring, is also the ordinary Hebrew word for an EYE, so the corner of the land is a courtyard of eyes. The next verse’s ‘Ain’ is that same word again, bare. ⚠ It is unidentified. It has to lie far enough north-east to make sense of a line running from the approach to Hamath down toward the sea of Chinnereth, which puts it somewhere on the desert margin beyond Damascus; the coordinates here are a reasoned guess and are marked approximate. Ezekiel 47:17 uses the same name for the same corner (not yet on these pages).
