One of only two named towns Jesus specifically curses for unbelief (Matthew 11:21 / Luke 10:13), and the ONLY site in that rebuke about which the Gospels record nothing else at all — no miracle story, no visit narrated anywhere, nothing beyond the bare charge that 'most of his mighty works' happened there. ⚠ That silence is a real gap, not a settled fact: whatever was done in Chorazin went as unrecorded as it apparently went unrepented. The likely site, Khirbet Kerazeh, sits on a basalt ridge a short walk (2-3 km) north of Capernaum along the Sea of Galilee's shore, and excavations have uncovered a substantial basalt synagogue (3rd-4th century AD, likely built over an earlier one) and a Roman-Byzantine town. Basalt, not Capernaum's limestone, is the local building stone here — a harder, darker rock that may be part of why so little survives of whatever first-century structures once stood.
